Saeed Mirfattah has been engaged in the art of photography for more than 10 years, having lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area, while at the same time pursuing interests that have taken him to various locations throughout the world. His explorations into the medium of photography as an art form and as a documentary tool, inform his perspective and style. Each wedding is respected as a unique and multidimensional event, shaped in part by careful planning and in part by a spontaneous revelation of events. Adopting a documentary approach to wedding photography, recording events as they unfold to form a visual narrative of the day, the emphasis is placed on capturing these singular moments rather than producing a formulaic photographic register of the guests in attendance. Using natural light whenever possible, the photographer¹s presence is de-emphasized to allow the mood of the day to gain primacy while the availability of a diverse range of film and equipment is used as photographic tools to enhance perspective. With the realization that photographic practice is not bound by the frame but only bound by the imagination, this approach yields a deeper document of the day, one that captures the contrast and complexity of emotions in one of humanity's most enduring social rituals.
